Removing Commercial Water Damage
There are many instances where water can flood a commercial space. Perhaps a pipe breaks or sprinkler systems default and begins pouring out water overnight causing high levels of water to rise overnight. Additionally, severe weather can cause unwanted, indoor moisture to enter a commercial building.
Extracting water is important when mitigating water damage. SERVPRO’s water removal technicians use the industry’s best equipment during extraction. Please see the picture to the right for our extraction equipment as well as one of our dehumidifiers. We implement procedures to complete the job right the first time.
First and foremost, when our team arrives at the scene of an emergency, we ensure the work area is safe for our technicians, employees, and the business. At that moment, we begin the clean-up process by fixing as many hazards in the area as possible. Areas that are not safe to access are blocked off. Caution signs are posted to reinforce dangerous areas.
The source of the problem is repaired. If the issue results from faulty sprinklers or a pipe break, a plumber is called to fix the problem. Under the circumstance that rainwater enters the building due to a broken or exterior wall, we board up the hole for you, so the moisture is blocked completely and will not continue to enter the building.
We then begin the extraction process with either a portable or truck-mounted extractor. Portable extractors get used for places that are difficult to get to or if parking a van at your business is impossible. Portable extractors weigh 40 to 90 pounds and they hold 5 to 12 gallons of wastewater with a vacuum power of lifting approximately 12 feet of water in height.
Truck-mounted extractors get used for severe projects that contain larger amounts of water. Vans that have an extractor park close to an entrance to your building, and the vacuum hose gets pulled in for extraction. Truck-mounted extractors weigh 500 to 1,100 pounds and have storage tanks that can hold 60 to 100 gallons of waste. The vacuum lift capabilities for these extractors are more powerful and can extract up to 16 feet of water.
